Sobateria
With a casual, design-savvy interior and a menu full of classic noodle dishes, Sobateria (2F, 16-2 Daikanyama-cho, Shibuya-ku; www.tokyosoba.com) is just what its name implies: a cafeteria for soba aficionados. This newly opened eatery in Daikanyama features hand-rolled noodles made with 100 percent unfiltered buckwheat, prepared daily on-site. The menu includes all the standards, from cold dishes like simple mori (¥600) and oroshi soba (with grated daikon, ¥700) to warm kake soba (¥600) and noodles with shrimp tempura (¥1,300). Top things off with a soft-cooked egg (¥100) and diced natto (¥100), or order à la carte fare like kushiage (¥800) and mozzarella tofu (¥900).
